Most of us had some sort of New Year’s Resolution that involved getting more exercise and eating better. Some of you may even have said you want to get more sculpted muscle tone. But walking, going to Zumba classes, spin classes, running, and other regular forms of exercise can get you in shape, but they don’t necessarily help you achieve better muscle tone.
At Musick Dermatology, we now offer a new treatment that can do exactly that — truSculpt flex.
What is truSculpt flex?
truSculpt flex is a non-invasive muscle sculpting device, cleared by the FDA for the strengthening, firming, and toning of abdominal, buttocks, and thigh muscles. truSculpt flex can improve muscle tone by inducing muscle contractions through the use of electric current.
How does truSculpt flex work?
The concept behind truSculpt flex is to use electrical stimulation to make muscles contract in a similar manner to what they would do during physical exercise. This form of electrical muscle stimulation has been successfully used in rehabilitation for patients due to immobilization or nerve/muscle damage.
The system can place eight pairs of pads during a single treatment. This allows truSculpt to target specific groups of large and small muscles at once. When the pads are strategically placed, the muscles receive direct electrical stimulation through electrodes located in each pad. This stimulation causes full muscle contractions similar to those the body uses for physical exercise. But the contractions induced by truSculpt flex are more intense and much more rapid. This builds muscle mass, strength, and tone.
You’d think this would overwork the targeted muscles, but truSculpt flex has three different treatment modes to prevent this. These are the modes:
- Prep mode— This mode creates twisting motions similar to those experienced during warm-up exercises. It involves stretching of muscles slowly and builds a tolerance to muscle contractions.
- Tone mode— This mode is similar to performing squats and involves contracting muscles until the point of exhaustion. This mode mimics strength-training programs and increases strength and endurance.
- Sculpt mode— This mode is similar to performing crunches and involves fast, deep, sequential contractions of the muscles. This mode mimics muscle-building programs involving the development of new muscle fibers.
Would truSculpt work for me?
To have these treatments, you need to already be healthy and in pretty good shape. Remember, these are muscle-sculpting treatments. Thanks to the different modes we can adapt the system to your level of health and your goals.
